COOKIE ORDER FAQs

Q: What makes these cookies so darn special?
A: Each cookie is baked with love using fresh ingredients. Our cookies taste as good as they look (or so we are told). Each cookie is hand-decorated with great care! Each layer of icing dries before the next is applied. It’s a time-sensitive process, and a labor of love that results in amazing looking cookies! We make the time and pay attention to the details to make each cookie look AND TASTE really great, for you!

 

Q: What is the different between a cookie ‘gift’ and a cookie ‘favor’?
A: A cookie gift is a collection of cookies that have been coordinated for birthdays, holidays, etc. Cookie gifts are sold by the box. Cookie favors are ideal party favors or holiday platters. They are sold by the dozen.

 

Q: Are you able to create a custom cookie order?
A: We would love to create a custom cookie just for you! Please give us a little bit of notice. We ask for at least 6 weeks, but you can jump on our baking schedule months in advance…the more notice the better. We will do our best to create a cookie that is just perfect for your wedding, birthday, shower or other special occasion. We ask for payment at the time the order date is reserved before the order is added to the baking schedule.

 

Q: How many cookies come in a cookie gift box?
A: The number of cookies in each GIFT box varies. Each gift box is photographed to show the actual contents. We also include a detailed product description.

 

Q: What are the ingredients of the cookies?
A: Cookies are baked with: love, flour, butter, sugar, eggs, pure vanilla and salt. Icing includes: powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water. A list of ingredients will be provided with each order. Even if a cookie doesn’t have peanuts, it is produced in a kitchen with peanuts. ALLERGENS: NUT, WHEAT, EGG, DAIRY

 

Q: Is your kitchen registered to produce and sell cookies?
A: Yes, the Flour Box Bakery kitchen is registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Food Safety to produce and sell cookies.

 

Q: What is the minimum order on a custom order or a cookie favor order?

A: The minimum order is 1 dozen (12 cookies). We ask that you limit designs to 2 designs per dozen ordered.

 

Q: When should I plan my order? Your website says 'BAKED TO ORDER'. What does that mean? 
A: We are happy to take small and big orders, but everything is 'baked to order'! Because our baking schedule varies and fills up a few weeks in advance, we request that custom orders are submitted at least 6 weeks or more in advance of the date you need cookies. Feel free to contact us with any special requests or advance orders.

 

Q: Help! I’m a procrastinator and I totally need cookies for my event in a couple days. Will you take the order?!
A: While we do ask for a certain amount of notice (at least 6 weeks) on all orders…we are always happy to help in a cookie emergency. Call us right away and we’ll do what we can to add you to the baking schedule! We don’t like to say no to anyone unless it’s physically impossible to get the order completed in time!

 

Q: How much is a cookie?
A: Cookie prices vary and are based on the size and design of the cookie. Cookie prices average $3-$6, depending on the complexity of the design. While many of our cookies can be personalized at no charge, significant changes to a cookie design or colors may result in slight price increase.

 

Q: How do I place an order?
A: You can place a holiday order on our website using the shopping cart and PayPal, or by contacting Anne Yorks, owner of Flour Box Bakery, at (814) 571-0720 or anne@flourboxbakery.com. Please include the following details with your order: name, address, email, cell phone, desired items, shipping address, and if an invoice should be provided. Please do not include any payment information in an email; once your order is confirmed, we’ll work out the payment details.

 

Q: How do I pay for my order?
A: Payment can be made via PayPal, check or cash. Checks can be made out to Flour Box Bakery. If you require an invoice, please note that in your order details. Payment is due at the time of ordering.

 

Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: We do not offer discounts, but will work to find a cookie option that fits your budget.

 

COOKIE SHIPPING FAQs

Q: When will my cookies arrive?
A: We ship using the United States Postal Service’s Priority Mail, which usually takes 2-3 business days depending on where you are located. We are in central Pennsylvania…so orders close to PA will arrive a smidge earlier than those being delivered to California, for example. We love our postal workers and regularly bring them cookies.

Q: How much is shipping?

A: Shipping in the US is a fixed rate as follows:

Orders up to $6: First Class Shipping is $3

Orders $6 to $25:  Priority Mail shipping is $7

Orders $25 - $65: Priority Mail shipping is $10 

Orders up to $65 - $110: Priority Mail Shipping is $20

Orders $110 and up: Priority Mail Shipping is $30

Rates and options may vary based on monthly specials or custom orders.

Q: How do you ship your cookies without them breaking? 
A: All cookies are individually-wrapped and then nestled into a bed of crinkle paper and bubble wrap, and placed into a bakery box. The bakery box is then cushioned with packaging materials in a shipping box. We put almost as much effort into the packaging as we do the baking! A cookie may very occasionally break or crack, but it will still taste great. We will not refund an order unless 50% of the order is destroyed and broken. We are nice people, so if you have any problems with cookies you receive from us, please call or email right away and we’ll try our best to make things right.

 

Q: Can you guarantee an exact shipping date?
A: Sorry, we cannot guarantee an exact shipping date. But using the guidelines above, we can help you estimate a target arrival date. If you want Overnight/Express/Guaranteed shipping, please contact us for a quote. 

 

DECORATING SUPPLIES ORDERS, RETURNS, AND SHIPPING FAQ

Q: What is your return policy on SUPPLIES?

A: Unused/unopened tools and supplies can be returned and refunded within 30 days of the order date. Refunds/returns are not available after 30 days. If you need to return an item, please email us at returns@flourboxbakery.com to set up a return. Items can be exchanged or refunded, minus the initial shipping charges. The refund will be made in the same payment form as the original purchase. Items that cannot be returned included any opened items or any items that have been used. 


Q: Unavailable/Out of Stock Items: 

A: At times we may be temporarily out of stock on certain items. Stay on top of back-ordered decorating/supply items by emailing supplies@flourboxbakery.com. We will gladly notify you when an item is available for order!

 

Q: Supplies Shipping (in the USA only)

A: Supply orders are shipped within 1-3 business days (Monday - Friday) from they date they are placed. All orders are shipped via the Post Office Priority Mail unless a special shipping request is made. Tracking is available on your order. Priority Mail is typically a 2-3 day service, but not guaranteed. If you need your supplies shipped via a guaranteed/overnight service, please email us at shipping@flourboxbakery.com for a quote! 

Shipping in the US is a fixed rate as follows:

Orders up to $25:  Priority Mail shipping is $7

Orders $25 - $65: Priority Mail shipping is $10 

Orders up to $65 - $110: Priority Mail Shipping is $20

Orders $110 and up: Priority Mail Shipping is $30

International Shipping on Supplies only
For a quote on international shipping, please email us your complete order and mailing address to shipping@flourboxbakery.com. There is a $5 surcharge on all international orders. Shipping is available through the US Post Office (either standard or international Priority). Flour Box Bakery is not responsible for lost international orders or customs charges in-country. International shipping is available only on supplies, not cookies.
